Fee structure: what you actually pay

Oopbuy's Service and Fees page states "no other fees will be charged except for product fees, international shipping fees, and customs clearance fees". Its formula: total cost = product cost + international shipping + customs declaration fee.

  • Product cost = item price + freight inside the Chinese mainland, from the seller to the warehouse.
  • International shipping = calculated on weight, chosen route and destination.
  • Customs declaration fee = generally 8 CNY per parcel, depending on the shipping method.
  • Service fee = 0. Oopbuy's agent-service article calls a zero service fee its "service philosophy".

Optional warehouse services are priced on a separate page: rehearsal packing (pre-weighing a parcel before you submit it) 20 CNY per parcel, a parcel photo before and after sealing 5 CNY, detailed photos 1 CNY each.

The exchange rate inside every quote

The public shipping estimator prints each route in CNY and USD. On 2026-10-10 the US, 1000 g, common-goods answer listed route DDF-GOFO-US-1 at 200.72 CNY and 33.59 USD. 200.72 divided by 33.59 is 5.9756.

Every other row in the same answer used the same divisor. It is a fixed figure inside the tool, not the market rate of the minute, so the dollar price carries whatever gap exists between 5.9756 and the day's rate. An independent October 2026 measurement put Oopbuy's all-in markup at about +12.2% with a $0 service fee.

Top-ups by PayPal are converted to US dollars. The Top up page says adjustments follow the latest Bank of China rate. If you pay in another currency, you pay two conversions: yours into USD, and USD into the CNY price.

Top-up fees and payment methods

The Top up page lists Wise in five currencies (USD, GBP, EUR, NZD and AUD) and PayPal, which accepts VISA, Mastercard, American Express and JCB and converts everything to US dollars.

The PayPal fee is stated twice and the two pages disagree. The Top up page says 4.5% + $0.30. An FAQ answer elsewhere says "approximately (3.7% + 0.3 $)". We print both. Oopbuy's own data pack marks the Top up page as the governing figure, so budget for 4.5% + $0.30.

Klarna appears with US-facing wording (Pay in 4, pay over time), and the footer shows card, bank transfer and Wise logos. Cross-border card payments "may incur a certain percentage" of fees; the percentage is not published.

Return and exchange fees on Door 1

Only agent orders have a published fee schedule, so this section is Door 1 only. A return you request for your own reasons costs the freight back to the seller, the seller's original outbound freight and a 5 CNY service fee. An exchange costs freight back, freight for the replacement and 5 CNY.

Two details soften it. The first user-caused return or exchange each calendar month has no service fee, and you can see how many free ones you have left under Orders, then After-Sales. Returns for orders not yet shipped by the seller cost nothing.

If the original item shipped free, you still pay the seller's outbound freight when you return it. On a cheap item that can be most of the price.

Shipping lines, customs and delivery time

Routes come in three families: postal, international express and dedicated small-parcel lines. The estimator shows each line's delivery days, a success rate, whether insurance is available, tax status and size and weight limits. On 2026-10-10 a 1000 g US query returned 23 routes; Germany returned 15 and the United Kingdom 16.

Billing uses the larger of actual and volume weight. Volume weight is length x width x height in centimetres divided by a route coefficient of 8000, 6000 or 5000. Any item with one side of 90 cm or more is flagged as individually packaged and cannot be combined. Parcels over 10 kg or with many identical items are more likely to be treated as commercial by customs.

Delivery time has three official versions: help pages say 5-12 days, the Delivery Time page says about 15-30 days depending on destination, and the live estimator gave 15-20 business days for DDF-GOFO-US-1 on 2026-10-10. Use the estimator's figure for your route, with the date you read it.

Declaration is your call and your risk. At parcel submission you choose self declaration (the system pre-fills item types, quantities and values, which you can edit) or fuzzy declaration (you enter only the total). Oopbuy's own examples of unreasonable declarations: three pairs of shoes at $1, a 10 kg item declared as a ring, and declaring $1000 for a parcel worth about $200. Duties, fines and customs risk sit with the buyer.

Oopbuy Storage article with normal and abnormal storage periods
Storage, captured 2026-10-15.

The storage clock and its four ceilings

Free storage is 90 days for normal parcels, counted from the status "received". Abnormal parcels, such as ones with incomplete logistics information, get 30 days from "signed for".

What happens after 90 days is stated four different ways. The Storage page: extend at 10 CNY per 30 days, no cap mentioned. The customised-logistics page: one extension of up to 30 days, 120 days in total. The value-added services page: 10 CNY per product ID per month, only for items stored 60-90 days, maximum 6 months. An older agent-service article: "up to 6 months free storage".

Separately, the Shopping Guidelines say goods with no shipment order within 120 days may be disposed of through points-mall redemption or destruction. Plan around 90 days and treat anything longer as uncertain.

Insurance and claim deadlines

For lost or damaged parcels, Oopbuy says it compensates "per the compensation standard of each line"; you apply through after-sales or online customer service. The timeliness clock starts when the parcel leaves the warehouse. Routes marked "Insurance Available" in the estimator have separate standards for insured and uninsured parcels.

The deadline is the part to remember: no inquiry or claim after 7 days from signing for the parcel, or 45 days from dispatch.

Exclusions: force majeure, missing proof, late claims, theft or loss after delivery, non-insurable categories, prohibited or restricted items, confiscation by authorities, and damage caused by the customer. Photograph a damaged box before you open it.

Build the budget in two passes

Before the item order, list its price, domestic delivery and any charge for funding or converting money. Add an estimated parcel allowance based on destination, contents and likely packed size. An old estimator reading or a coupon face value is not the final amount you will pay.

Before dispatch, replace the estimate with the packed weight, outer dimensions, chosen line, extras and actual coupon reduction. Check whether the line uses volume as well as weight and whether all goods qualify. Record any destination charges separately. Compare identical contents and service conditions when considering two lines or agents.

Removing a shoe box may reduce volume but also removes protection and packaging. Compression may suit some clothing and harm structured goods. Make that decision deliberately; do not request every optional service merely because a checkbox exists.

After packing: adjustment, tracking and receipt

Keep the estimate and final freight record together. If the amount changes, compare line, packed dimensions, chargeable weight and extras before asking which part was adjusted. An excess returned to account balance is separate from a later withdrawal to a payment method.

Once dispatched, use the carrier scan history rather than interpreting “label created” as physical movement. Keep delivery packaging and document visible damage or missing contents promptly. Contact the parcel support channel with the tracking event, date and concise evidence; claim conditions depend on the line, protection and issue.
